V11 x Rotown presents: Jabu + BHAJAN BHOY

The Bristol-based trio Jabu invites you to step into their dreamscape. Their intoxicating blend of vintage dreampop—think Cocteau Twins, Björk in slow motion, or downbeat soundsystem-dub in the vein of A.R. Kane—offers a mesmerizing and endlessly intriguing listening experience. Their sound is fluid, melancholic, and dreamlike to the extreme, yet never oppressive or heavy.

In October 2024, they released their latest album, A Soft and Gatherable Star, which received glowing five-star reviews from The Wire, The Quietus, Clash Magazine, and other renowned publications. With six albums now under their belt, Jabu shows no signs of slowing down. Now, they’re ready to conquer Europe—and to cast their spell on our city.

Whether through an immersive drone, an orchestral piano passage, or an electronically enhanced raga teetering on the edge of noise—BHAJAN BHOY effortlessly fuses his musical influences into a hypnotic blend infused with an earthy spirituality. Even the name of the project embodies the harmony between the two worlds in which Ajay Saggar grew up: in Hindi, bhajan refers to a devotional song sung in the mandir (temple), while bhoy is a Scottish and Irish term for a young man.
