Benefits
If there is one thing that could be called modern punk, it would be Benefits. The always angry, sometimes danceable spoken-word act is not afraid to let you know what they think about the state and their country. Benefits have released a handful of singles so far, which were widely very well received by fans and renowned press such as NME, Rolling Stone, and The Quietus.
The electronic beats pound forward while the politically engaged lyrics drive through like a train that never stops, much like the iconic monologue at the beginning of the movie Trainspotting. The deep, British accent is the only constant factor in their music. Sometimes there is no music to be heard, just the monotonous talking of the frontman. Sometimes there is so much to be heard that it just becomes a lot of noise. It’s impressive, dynamic, and refreshing. It’s Benefits.
