Tapir - Vessel 11

Tapir

By incorporating paintings, set design, costumes, and short films into their performances, Tapir! transports you to a magical dimension. Their tender, artisanal, and almost childlike folk music, filled with swirling guitars, mystical musical landscapes, lo-fi drum machines, and unique stories, feels like a gateway to another world where everything is gentle, beautiful, and kind. Let yourself be carried away by the lovely yet raw indie folk in the style of Midlake.

At the end of January 2024, their debut album “The Pilgrim, Their God, and The King of My Decrepit Mountain” was released. A versatile album that is equally rooted in folk art and folklore as it is in experimentation within the alternative folk genre. The name may be a mouthful, but that’s because it’s a concept album that tells the story of a red creature known as The Pilgrim, on a solitary journey through various mythical landscapes. A fantastic, peculiar fable carried by clear, sincere vocals and the band’s instinctive, idiosyncratic melodies. The project sometimes feels like the musical equivalent of the paintings of Henry Darger, Henri Rousseau, or Philip Guston.
