Are you a proactive people person who enjoys responsibility and taking ownership of daily operations? In this hands-on role, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring smooth service and leading a dynamic team at a unique venue — a British gastropub, restaurant, music venue, and event space all in one.

Vessel 11 is looking for an energetic and efficient person to take charge of our floor management during service. In this role, you are responsible for ensuring smooth service across the ship. During your shift you’ll manage a tight-knit team, be the go-to person for problem solving, and play a key role in the overall guest experience. We’re looking for someone with strong hospitality experience and leadership skills.

What the Job Involves
You’ll be responsible for the smooth day-to-day operations on board Vessel 11 during your shift, overseeing the restaurant and bar, and managing private event spaces and the concert hall when in use. A typical shift may involve managing the restaurant while a private birthday party takes place and a concert happens in the belly of the ship. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, motivating, and managing a team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for guests, ensuring their experience is seamless and enjoyable.
  • Identifying and resolving any operational issues during shifts in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Overseeing venue setup and closing procedures to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Managing staff to ensure that service runs smoothly within budgeted costs.
  • Handling cash register duties, including opening and closing the till, ensuring accurate cash flow, and processing payments during shifts
  • Coordinating with kitchen, administration, and management teams to ensure a collaborative approach to service delivery.
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and customer satisfaction at all times.
  • Actively contributing suggestions and improvements for the overall operation and atmosphere of the boat.

Skills we are looking for

  • Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English
  • Proven leadership experience in the hospitality industry
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to stay calm and resolve problems efficiently under pressure
  • A proactive and independent work style
  • Attention to detail and a hands-on mentality
  • Nice to have: BHV (bedrijfshulpverlening) & SVH (Stichting Vakbekwaamheid Horeca) certifications

What we offer

  • 28 – 38 hours per week
  • Salary based on Level 5 or 6 of the Koninklijke Horeca Nederland job scale (depending on your experience)
  • Start date: as soon as possible
